Recently we paid a visit to our friends at North Ridge Pumps in Nottingham to see how their new N-Lase Desktop system is enabling them to mark their parts precisely and efficiently in house. You can hear what they had to say in the video below:
Like many other customers we meet, North Ridge Pumps had been outsourcing the engraving of the nameplates that go onto every one of their pumps. These nameplates ensure that the parts they manufacture and ship are UKCA compliant.
Outsourcing your laser engraving can present a number of challenges. Firstly, there is a longer lead time, and this lead time is often variable. Secondly, if there are issues with the files you send over, this begins a process of communication which can be cumbersome and time consuming. Lastly, you cannot always guarantee the consistency and quality of your mark, and if there are issues that need to be resolved this further delays your parts being able to leave the factory floor.
With this in mind, North Ridge Pumps decided that it was time to start marking their nameplates, in house. The UK based manufacture, training and support available from Needham Laser Technologies was a real winner, and so North Ridge Pumps are able to laser engrave all of their own nameplates in house, overseeing the process from start to finish and tailoring the mark to suit their needs - with no middle man.
