On the Emerald Isle: Needham Coding Ireland

Needham Coding Ireland was created in 2017 as a result of a merger between The Needham Group, which comprises Needham Ink Technologies and Needham Laser Technologies, and its long-standing Irish distributor Advanced Coding Solutions (ACS). As a result, Needham Coding Ireland has been able to meet the growing demand in Ireland for reliable and affordable marking solutions.

Conveniently located in Mullingar in Co-Westmeath, the team from ACS moved across to the new business and the new premises with Bob Powles continuing as Managing Director. Needham Coding Ireland expanded its headcount locally with the appointment of technical salespeople and service engineers soon after its formation.

Needham Coding Ireland offers an unrivalled range of marking equipment, including the own brand N-Lase series of laser marking machines manufactured by Needham Laser Technologies in the UK. The N-Lase series offers a spectrum of laser systems ranging from the smaller Desktop system to the larger Workstation, designed for large format, industrial laser marking requirements. As such, Needham Coding Ireland was able to provide 3 Benchtop systems to Lufthansa Technik, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group. These systems met a requirement for the serialisation of tools used to maintain, complete, and repair their aircraft, with one machine in Ireland, Malta, and Hungary respectively.

While the N-Lase range is designed to handle any task, no matter the size, Needham Coding Ireland in partnership with Needham Laser Technologies is also able to design and build custom solutions for those with more bespoke requirements. Most recently, the team in Ireland has been working closely with a well-established optical lens manufacturer to develop three custom UV laser systems that will mark their lenses. 

The last 18 months haven't been plain sailing - like most other businesses across the globe, Needham Coding Ireland felt the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. A large portion of Needham Coding Ireland's customer base comes from the food and hospitality industries, which ground to a halt as a result of the virus. Consequently, so did the demand for coding and marking solutions. That being said, the pandemic has also provided an opportunity, should they choose to take it, for businesses to pause for reflection and identify their strengths and weaknesses. Needham Coding Ireland and the wider Needham Group did exactly that and, as a result, are moving out of the pandemic in a position of confidence and clarity.
